Powerful Arms

Last Friday at the gym I spoke with a woman who I had not seen in nearly a year. In the course of comparing notes from the past year, we discussed why we had started doing weight training. She was recoverying from a nasty incident that happened several years ago in which she and her husband were brutally beaten. She looked good. The last time she saw me, I had just gotten out of the hospital with pneumonia. She said to me "You are looking good and your arms look very powerful."

Your arms look very powerful.

That has stuck with me all weekend. It makes me feel good, better for hugging and better for protecting myself from the mean old world. Powerful.
